The End of the Road

I’m sure you’ve noticed that posts have been few and far between since I’ve returned from my trip and started my new job. I knew, deep down, that it would come to this, but I’ve been dreading writing this post and making it official.

After a year and a half of blogging, I’m going to call it quits. It’s been incredibly fun and rewarding. I just don’t have the time to do all the things I need to do — handle my new workload, spend time with friends and family, and have a bit of me time left over.

This blog has been an amazing creative outlet, and I’ve learned a ton. I’ve also enjoyed getting to know many of you, and I appreciate all the support that you guys have shown me.

It is a difficult thing to do, ending this blog, because I’ve poured endless hours and energy into it. But I enjoyed every second, and I know this is the right decision, for me, now.

“There’s a trick to the ‘graceful exit.’ It begins with the vision to recognize when a job, a life stage, or a relationship is over — and let it go. It means leaving what’s over without denying its validity or its past importance to our lives. It involves a sense of future, a belief that every exit line is an entry, that we are moving up, rather than out.”

This is sad news, but a situation I can relate to… I struggled to keep my blog alive over this past summer, and I’m sure I’ll run into a similar dilemma sometime in the future… having a full-time job that’s not your blog means that it will take priority (as will family and friends, of course).

Best wishes!!

I just started reading your blog and I love it!! I’ve been checking back everyday for a new post so this is really sad news! :( but I understand it is important to balance all those things in your life. There just simply aren’t enough hours in the day.

Maybe you’ll still come back every now and then and visit.. Thank you for everything though! You introduced to me to Pinterest.. what did I do before!?

Thanks so much for all the time and energy and research you put into this blog! I’ve followed it for the last few months and have appreciated so many of the articles specifically for young career gals, and the sprinkling of humour and class you’ve given them.

All the best to you in the future!

While it truly does make me sad, I am happy that you were able to say what was working for you and doing something about it. Your blog is wonderful and will be missed, but often times we as women don’t have enough minutes in our day and continue to take on too many things and never say no. I wish you much success and if you do ever decide to blog again please keep us posted! You are wonderful!

Emma, your blog has been an inspiration to me as I work on mine. I am so very happy for you as you take time for the most important things in life. At the same time though, I’m sad to see Jane Has a Job Go. I wish you all the best and know that you’ll find happiness in anything that you do!
